2010 Country Crest Killalane Road Races

The 2010 Country Crest Killalane road races will take place on the 11th and 12th of September. Road close 1pm - 7pm Saturday 11th and 10am - 6:30pm on Sunday 12th.

Competition in the newly established ‘Best of the Best’ Trophy is close with Ryan Farquhar and the Flying Scot Keith Amor both holding 27 points after the Skerries 100 first round.

Michael Dunlop currently trails in 3rd Place with 20 points with brother William holding onto 6th place.

All this could change at Killalane where the World’s best Road Racers will compete in the final meeting of the 2010 Road Racing calendar.

Ray Kerr, Loughshinny Clubs PRO and sponsor of the Best of the Best Trophy is very excited about the competition. Ray a Scotsman who has lived in Ireland for 12 years is torn between supporting fellow Scotsman Keith Amor or Dungannon man Ryan Farquhar to pick up the Trophy. Ray says ‘I have great respect for all of the riders who compete in the great sport of Pure Road Racing here in Ireland, Ryan and Keith are particular favourites of mine they are both great guys and great competitors. If I’m honest it would be great to hand over the first place Trophy to a fellow Scotsman. The great thing for me is there are three very unique Trophies I’m having made for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places so on the day I’ll get the chance to honour three great riders’.

Everything could change on race day though and the Dunlop brothers who are close on points could be up there on the podium if they are on it and in the grove.

Ray is also fielding his own bike at Killalane. Ridden by local guy and fellow Club member Sean Leonard Ray’s Honda 600cc was first seen out at the Skerries 100 in July. ‘it was a real thrill to see the bike out at Skerries for the first time and I can’t wait to see it out again at Killalane, Sean was delighted with the bike and told me it handled like a dream’ said Ray.

This year 2010 sees the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club gearing up for what promises to be another exciting adrenalin fuelled end to the Road Racing season in Ireland. Top road racing champions will be vying for those last crucial points which could guarantee them a 2010 Irish Championship Crown.

The 2010 Country Crest Killalane Road Races take place over two days, Saturday September 11th, roads close 1pm to 7pm and Sunday September 12th roads close 10am to 6.30pm.
Race practice and qualifying is on the Saturday culminating with a day of world class racing on Sunday.
