Late last year we announced that the Loughshinny MCSC in conjunction with our sponsors Country Crest, were planning to run the Killalane Road Races in 2017, as part of our two race plan for the new season.
Unfortunately due to circumstances, which saw the cost of the insurance rise from €13.000, to €25.000, the club are devastated that they will not be able to afford to run two races. This decision has not been taken lightly, and we have decided to put all our resources for 2017 into running the Skerries 100.
There have been a lot of rumours and slating of the club on social media about Killalane, but we are pleased to announce that after discussions between Loughshinny MCSC and Motor Cycling Ireland, both parties have agreed to make the dates originally allocated to the Killalane Road Races available to newly formed East Coast Club to run their own road race event. We wish the organisers a good and safe weekend.
The name “Killalane Road Races” is a trademark of the Loughshinny Club, and remains the intellectual property of the club.
The Skerries 100 will run on its traditional weekend on Friday 30th June and Saturday 1st July. The Classic Parade will take place on a date to be announced.
We look forward to making an official announcement of our sponsors for the Skerries 100 in the coming weeks.
It has been a trying time for the members of the club, and we would like to thank all our friends and sponsors for their continued support.
